HELP FOR ANXIETY
Lesley loves working with anxiety.
Being scared, feeling frightened, worried, nervous, panicked or phobic all describe anxiety.
Anxiety is a normal human emotion which is designed to protect us and help us perform optimally. But sometimes we can feel it too much and too often. Typically, anxiety is only a problem if it interferes in an individual (or sometimes a family’s life) or causes lasting distress. Interference means not being able to do things a person wants or needs to do. Sometimes we judge interference by what others of the same age and stage (our peers) can do.
We can have anxiety about many things. At different times in our lives we will get anxious about different things.
Anxiety can be successfully treated! I worked in the Emotional Health Clinic ( a specialist anxiety clinic at Macquarie University) for over a decade. This has given me a solid evidence base for assessing and treating common and not so common anxiety difficulties.
